Sketchbook!

Yay some more press about Portsmouth Uni's graduate show!
This time from the blog of Sketchbook Magazine. ''Through all these fresh talents, Sketchbook noticed a few innovative and fresh talents..' I was on of them! :)

Here is what it said about me!

CHARLOTTE BUTTRESS:

‘Urban Aviation’ was the name of her SS11 collection. It was all fluid and soft, with details of American aviation stickers on the back of a jacket. Butress transformed the traditional aviator wear youthful and feminine, with inspiration of Jackson Pollock’s artwork.

Oh Doo.Ri me!

I am just loving Amanda Seyfried at the moment! especially her red carpet style.

For the London premiere of her new movie 'Dear John' she wore a beautiful dress from Doo.Ri's Fall 2010 collection. This jersey mini dress is embelished with sequins and is very simple yet stylish. I want one!

Check out the rest of Doo.Ri's Fall 2010 collection by visiting style.com, or by clicking on the link below:

I am assuming that this dress comes with a beautiful price tag too, but do not fret sequin lovers as in this weeks LOOK magazine there is a section on where to find those sparkly outfits to brighten up your wardrobe this spring.

They reccommend this jumper from Miss Selfridge £45:

And I found this stunning gold metallic mini dress by TFNC, £40.00, with cap sleeves and a cut out back. available on asos.com:

Mangoes and Aviation....

No don't worry I haven't suddenly got a craving for a new fetish...its for my Final Uni Project. EVER!

URBAN AVIATION.

This is the title and theme of my Final Major Project. I was browsing through the Mango website last year admiring their collections when I thought:
'I just love their clothes - I know, why not design for them for my FMP?'
So that was decided, and the rest (as they say) was history! I wanted to take the traditional aviation look of jumpsuits and jackets and modernise them by using vibrant, eye-catching prints and making them more girly to fit in with the Mango customer.

Here is my collection that I am going to create (this was done using illustrator - my new favourite toy!) I hope you guys like it!...

Below are my garments closer up, i drew these using illustator again.

This first image is of my playsuit, this is where my bright print is coming into the collection. I wanted to use the print in a different way as print is usually used on dresses for the summer, I didnt want to have such an obvious garment with print which is why I chose a playsuit.
It is loose fitting and can be worn with out without a belt, the pockets are big and slouchy and go across the seam so are on the back as well. There is Yoke detail on the front and back and it is fastened with a concealed zip on the back.

This design is for my cropped jacket. It is longer at the back than at the front to add interest to the simplicity of it. The sleeves are ruched so acn be worn either long or short and there is slight puff detail at the shoulder. Yoke detail is also on the front and back.

This final image is of myshirt dress and jumpsuit . My shirtdress is mirroring the ruching on the sleeve by having a waistline that is adjustable, therefore this dress will also be very loose fitting like the short playsuit. The yoke detail on this dress is a contrasting colour to make it more of a feature and there is a concealed zip on the front as its fastening.
My jumpsuit has the same neckline, pocket detail and yoke detail as the short playsuit. Hoever this design is sleeveless to make it more appropriate to wear in summer and there is stitching detail on the trousers to make them more interesting to look at.

Finally I think you should all check out the latest Spring 2010 Mango collections here, you will find a section you will love for sure: http://www.mango.com/pv/index.html

I am totally loving the 'Sohpie Auster' look at the moment! :)

Leo has done it again :)

And he's done it good!

The fabulous Leonardo Dicaprio has amazed me once again in his latest thriller 'Shutter Island'. He plays U.S Marshall Teddy Daniels who has been sent, with new partner Chuck Aule (played by Mark Ruffalo), to investigate a missing patient from a mental hospital on the remote Shutter Island. Soon, his investigations lead him to suspect all the staff are involved with inhumane goings on in the hospital; and when communication from the main land is cut off due to a major storm, Daniels begins to question who he really is and what he is really doing on Shutter Island...

Usually I am not a fan of thrillers and movies that cause me to involuntary jump off my seat...but this film had me gripped right till the very end! I would like to congratulate Leo, and his portrayal of Teddy Daniels, for his help in converting me to a thriller fanatic! :)

Pure Genius!

I recently came across a comedy genius on a site you might have heard of - Youtube, you know it. He is taking it upon himself to read the whole of Twilight (the first book in the Twilight saga by Stephanie Meyer, yeah its famous - so if you do not know who Edward Cullen is, or how Bella seems to be socially awkward, who are you? ) and reporting to the world, via the technology that is Youtube, his thoughts and feelings! classic mate.

This comic prodigy is named Alex. Whether or not you are a fan of Vampires and blood and.....social awkwardness? this will have you laughing out loud. Yes I must admit there I was sitting by myself watching Alex Reads Twilight on my laptop, laughing my head off, practically in hysterics, crying my eyes out and wetting myself (well...not quite) - anyone who walked past my room must have thought "in there, my friend, is a complete nutjob...."

If you don't believe me watch it for yourself, and I warn you now, you will be 'loling' at your computer screen.

Alex Reads Twilight: chapter 1 (I advise you to watch all 9 chapters!)

LOVE IT. and now you will too.
